As a housemate in Big Brother Amplified, Vimbai Mutinhiri was not a favorite of most Nigerians, not when our girls Karen Igho and Vina were there.
However, since the end of the show, the melanin beauty of Zimbabwe parentage has gone on to become a household name in not just Nigeria, but the African continent at large.
From co-hosting DSTV’s Star Gist, Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, New Media Conference, Ghana Movie Awards, Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards, Genevieve Beauty Awards among a list of others, I dare say, that the TV presenter, Model and Actress is one of the most successful alumni of the Big Brother Africa realty show.
The Harare born was raised in Serbia and South Africa where she studied and graduated from with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics. Till date, Vimbai Mutinhiri loves to travel around the world, although currently, she is mostly in Lagos, Nigeria.
For one who used to be an ardent fan of Big Brother Africa, I like that she is based here, as it has given me the privilege of seeing the black beauty evolve over time. Vimbai is a without a doubt, a woman on a mission.
Her presenting skills got obviously better (you would agree if you watched the first two installments of the AMVCAs), her style has gotten a lot better(thanks to stylists like Rhoda Ebun) and her face beat game is stronger now than ever(courtesy of Anita Brows and Dave Sucre), so it is only fair Zimbabweans let us have her already!
No? Maybe this compilation of her made up by Nigerians, styled by Nigerians and in pieces by Nigerian designers will convince you!
Vimbai is an embodiment of the #BuyNigerian idea, and she likes it here, I promise.
Dear Nigeria, thank you for being such a central part of my journey! God used you to help me find myself, grow and be moulded into the person I am today. I am so grateful for how this wonderful country has loved me, and embraced me like their very own. Things may not be perfect at the moment, but I know that it is only a matter of time before Gods glory reveals itself again in this wonderful nation! Thank you for your hospitality, for your lessons and for your opportunities! Most importantly – thank you for your people who have taught me some of life's greatest lessons. Happy Independence Day Nigeria!! Image by: @bayoomoboriowo
…and nothing says that better than this picture of her doing the shoki dance!
