I recently got back from an amazing trip to Abu Dhabi, UAE courtsey of Etihad Airways, Filmhouse Cinemas, and Coca-Cola. Abu Dhabi is just beautiful and inspring! If you followed me on my social media platforms, you got to experience it “firsthand” with me. But something I didn’t get to talk as much about was my style during the trip. So as everyone’s new favorite tour guide, here are my tips for packing and dressing while traveling.
- Dress for the weather
- Dress for the culture
- Dress for the activities
Dress for the weather
We traveled to Abu Dhabi during the best time according to locals. The weather was ideal for all activities, day and night. So, of course I packed shorts, crops, and dresses. You should never travel without a pair of jeans. You just never know if weather will switch up. Especially because Abu Dhabi is the desert, I knew they might have cold nights, so I made sure to pack joggers and a jacket.
Dress for the culture
Abu Dhabi is a Muslim Emirates so the locals would of course be dressed modestly. But, Abu Dhabi is very open and receptive to tourists so most people don’t mind how you dress, but to be respectful, always have a jacket or shawl handy just in case of incasities. The locals wear long jalabias and abayas both for the culture and weather purposes. So, of course I traveled with my own.
Dress for the activities
We went to Abu Dhabi to have fun, fun, fun, to tour the town and see all the sights. So, comfort was key for me! We would also go for nice dinners and hit the clubs so needed to pack hot dresses and heels too! I never travel without a swimsuit, even road trips lol, and my swimsuit surely went to great use. There was a mad pool, the beach, and the water park. I really had the time of my life!
An extra tip: Pack versatile clothing, things that can be used for different occasions, that can easily be switched up from casual to formal.
A loose bubu that can be tied at the waist to give a more fashion-forward look
A kimono that can be thrown over a casual outfit or swimwear.
