Yesterday at the Alexander McQueen SS 18 show, Sarah Burton gave us a tale of the floral, girly punk queen.
The pieces which reeked of the opulence that has come to be associated with the McQueen name, featured deconstructed punk strappy trench coats, pink ruffled midi dresses, more pink floral midi dresses, bright red leather dresses with embellished studs and perhaps the most glaring hint, the wet-ish, strands falling Gothic hair and makeup that the models had on.
There was also plaid, which coupled with the floral embroidering and beading gave off a tinge of the Scottish origins, and power suits with silk exaggerated shoulders that do not leave a doubt on feminine power.
Not the usual from the brand but it goes in accordance with the growing trend of adapting more millennial friendly themes in collections by designers this season.
