They say “a hungry man is an angry man” but being hungry never stopped me from noticing the artworks displayed on the walls opposite the doors of Bukka Restaurant at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja while I was going for breakfast.

Once I was done with breakfast; I decided to stop over at the exhibition stand to check out the arts on display, and maybe make a purchase. Don’t you know that cool kids collect art and I don’t mean those ones displayed on the way to the Palms. I kid, shop according to your pocket, biko.

While I was walking round, the coasters caught my eyes and I moved closer to the table admire them.
Stacked on each other were coasters adorning different art prints, each unique and making it impossible to choose a favourite.

While I was trying to decide, she walked up to me and introduced herself as the artist behind the works.

First glace at Millicent, you could tell that she’s someone passionate about her work. From her tinted hair to her-not-s-fitted long sleeves shirt finished off with a denim pant.

We got talking about her work, motivation, and aspirations.

Millicent Osumuo grew up under the shadows of her artist father, Andrew Osumuo who also got his inspiration from his ironsmith father, Okpala Ibekwe.
Millicent’s interest in art was further sharped her teachers at Federal Government Collage, Onitsha from where she went on to study art in University of Oyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Being an only girl at home and in her class, spending 85% of her time with boys got Millicent dressing as one of them to the extent that she took part in dressing, playing the instruments and following the masquerade around in her native hometown in Anambra State.

In her spare time, Millicent loves to paint and her surroundings act as hers muse, she believes her painting will someday give her the ultimate inner happiness.

These are her amazing works; and of course I went home with four of her works;

    Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Internet explorer. Outstanding Blog!
