We all know charisma, flare, finesse and style are needed to be a great superstar after leaving the Big Brother Nigeria/Africa House. But what if you had all that before you got in or you developed them when you had your exit? Or perhaps it just wasn’t your thing?

Let’s take a trip down memory lane as we analyze some prominent past and present male housemates, how they have evolved and the niche they’ve set for themselves in terms of style, composure, and allure.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu was a contender in the Big Brother Africa 2006 season (which he didn’t win) but he has carved a reputation for himself in the media industry, and now has an Instagram followership of 2 million people. But how was he able to climb this pedestal? Well, let me break it down this way: Ebuka is charming, charismatic, stylish and a wonderful host. Today he has gone from hosting minimal events to hosting major events, and is now known as one of the most stylish Nigerian men on the internet. This season of Big Brother Naija is just one of the many seasons he’s hosted. But let’s be sincere; Ebuka at this moment is a direct opposite of what he was before he entered and was evicted from the Big Brother house, which means that a lot of grooming and hard work had been done to get him to the level that he is at right now, and every new season he hosts the show, major improvements are recorded (besides the Tacha incident this season his being phenomenal). His looks and personality match his style and he seems to have a strong thing for working with great photographers. Whatever it is he does works perfectly for him and we hope he keeps striving to be the best at what he does.

However, let’s compare him to his fellow compatriots both past and present. Yes, I’m talking about Tobi Bakare, Gideon Okeke and of course the Captain of the crew ship, Mike Edwards.

To be fair, this is no disrespect to these individuals because we respect whatever field they’ve decided to identify with but one thing we know for sure is this: “most of them are lacking in terms of their style!”

Let me explain.

Gideon Okeke is an amazing actor and has been able to solidify his place in the Nollywood Industry with features on Tinsel, 93 days and many more. It’s just sad that he is not as talented an actor as he is when it comes to styling himself. Just take a good look at the picture below. The scarf, the beret, the purple shirt and black cardigan with that awful pose isn’t just it and we can’t ignore. Maybe he could take a few tips from Ebuka or the Mystery Talent that is yet to blossom, as it will strengthen his acting career and perhaps he’ll be seen as a stylist actor and just maybe levitate his 79.4 k followers on Instagram (ok low blow but the truth hurts).

Nonetheless, Tobi Bakre tries his best with his appearance. He usually goes for the simple, casual and elegant look, although there is no balance in terms of his nude versus clothed mien, (honestly, if I were buff I would flaunt it ngl). But who are we to judge? If that’s what his 1.5 million followers on Instagram want and like; then that’s fine.

Finally, let’s talk about this particular individual. This individual has had no grooming in the aspect of hosting, styling and even being “influencer”. But he has shown himself to be one to be an efficient host (tasks in the house); his style is creative and vibrant (Instagram posts before he was in the house); he is fit (an athlete and former Olympian); and he has proven to the people that a married man can actually compete in the Big Brother House with no controversies. More so, he has a whopping 389K followers and counting without even stepping out of the house. Style Vitae Family, that individual is Mike Edwards – “THE CAPTAIN OF THE CREW SHIP”. And we can’t wait for him to leave and finally take his place as one of the best well-rounded men that Big Brother has ever seen. But let’s keep our fingers crossed as we watch and observe.

But what do I know really? I’m just a writer; educate me and tell me what you think. Does Mike actually have the potential to outshine all the previous housemates?Or are we simply star struck?

Have a great day. Cheers!
