Finally fashion month has signed off with Paris Fashion Week being the last stop. I religiously perused the collections and pieces showcased by the various designers and picked my favourites. Here are the Autumn/Winter 15 collections making it into in my good books
The French house showcased a punk laced collection of full-skirted polka dot dresses with tulle underskirts peeking out, body con mini dresses in shiny and shimmery black and silver and stripy sweater dresses under oversized check blazers. Pointy ankle boots, some cover in chains, finished off the looks. I like the collection because of the party girl feel to it helped along by the torn panty hose, dark eyes and bright lips.
The French fashion house founded by Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga showed dresses with thigh high slits in black and white check against blocks of black, spiky coats, embellished jackets and dresses. The palette was kept muted but silver highlights and plenty of texture kept it rich and interesting.
For Fall, creative director Karl Lagerfeld used one of my favourite prints, the houndstooth and spiked faux leather to create sophisticated skirt suits and bishop neck dresses. Lot’s of black and white, blue plaid and golden tones and accents rounded out the collection which played with unusual textures on classic silhouettes for a fresh take on the Chanel aesthetic.
Dior made turtlenecks sexy in this collection putting sleek knitwear under boxy blazers and paired with flirty skirts. Vinyl boots and sequined dresses brought the drama for night time looks.
Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, sometimes known simply as ‘ES’, works largely out of his main workshop in Lebanon, with additional workshops in Milan and Paris where he chose to showcase his Fall 2015 collection. It featured sheer printed lace, leafy appliqué on leather, leafy chiffon, leafy-toned tweeds, and leafy-toned fox fur with high cut trousers and full skirts.
David Koma was in charge of creating the collection for Mugler’s Fall 2015 offering and he made it a sexy and feisty affair. There were body con dresses and streamlined suits in classic black, royal blue and white with metallic detailing and also.
The French brand’s FW15 collection featured a mixture of bold and softer, neutral colours. Midi dresses and skirts in cashmere, velvet and embellished fabrics were cinched at the waist with wide belts.
High necks pieces are everywhere in this casually sophisticated collection, worn with coats or suits clinched at the waist with studded belts or under structured dressed which sheer fabric and lace details
The collection featured suits and dresses with dramatic and asymmetrical hems my favorite being the grey jumpsuits with an embellished falling shoulder strap. Gold and white paisley and an abstracted pattern on dresses and skirts, solid green and blue pieces and colourful embellishments on plain pieces pop next to looks in top to toe grey.
I like this collection cause it reminded me of Moschino which is one of my favourite fashion brands. The Japanese brand put sequined comic strips, characters and illustrations on off white dresses and separates worn with shiny ankle boots. Sequins and blocks of bright colour finish of the graphic art effect.
Once again I see my favorite print, houndstooth, being used to create beautiful pieces. This time its Miu Miu closing off the Paris Fashion Week with bold, colorful pieces with varied prints and patterns mixed and layered for a playful, modern vibe.
