What are the most memorable moments for you from last year’s AMVCAs red carpet?

Susan Peters white ensemble , Alex Ekubo multicolored jacket and Eku’s opening  outfit

What are your expectations for this year’s red carpet looks?

I expect cutouts from women , two pieces , more color and slits. Lots of slits!

Which celebrities’ looks are you looking forward to seeing and why?

I want to see what Genevieve wears this year , she’s been killing it recently with her style and I want to see it come full circle, of course Rita Dominic is one to watch as well. As for the men, I’m pretty excited about my own tuxedo. Haha. RMD for sure, he’s been surprising me lately.

What is the most exciting part of hosting the red carpet?

It’s really just seeing everyone come in at first looking all glam.

What’s the most challenging thing about hosting the red carpet?

Honestly, it’s probably remembering all the names and keeping the questions dynamic, no one likes monotony. Also one has to be very careful not to cuss on live TV. Lol

Which Nigerian Fashion designers do you think will be the celebrities’ faves this year?

Male – Tayor Gabriels  Female – Moofa  and April By Kunbi

Which Nigerian designer would you love to have dress you for the red carpet show and why?

I’m being dressed by Rhobes Couture and it’s looking pretty bomb right now.

How do you prepare for hosting on the red carpet? How is it different if at all to attending as a guest?

Well, you have pre production and rehearsals. Rest, drink lots of water, haircuts, freshly laundered shirts and of course a very cool place to get ready.

What are the most memorable moments for you from last year’s AMVCAs red carpet?

I always look out for the surprises, be they outrageous or plain, when a guest wears something no one expects. Derenle is known to be fashion forward but he surprised me with his gold plated look last year. I remember exchanging pleasantries with him for a full minute, before he lifted, his mask saying, “Ozzy, it’s me. Derenle! Look! ” I was stunned speechless.

What are your expectations for this year’s red carpet looks?

Oh, that’s part of the fun. The anticipation! If I could hazard a guess I’d say plunging necklines and vibrant red, because red was sparse last year but it’s not until the guests keep thronging in that the tally starts to show what’s trending.

Which looks are you looking forward to seeing and why?

I’m looking forward to seeing Susan Peters, Belindah Effah, Stephanie Linus, and Genevieve. For the men, Richard Mofe Damijo will be extraordinarily dapper. And I’m also keen on seeing the new recruits in the agbada gang

What is the most exciting part of hosting the red carpet?

Oh, the glamour! It’s a feast for the eyes. The biggest stars dressed in their grandest attires. What’s not to love? and the passionate feeling the looks evoke afterwards. Some people love a look and more people hate it. It’s fun.

What’s the most challenging thing about hosting the red carpet?

Sometimes the logistics can be a bit tricky because guest arrivals are unpredictable. Some guests who want to make a grand, often late, entrance inadvertently miss the red carpet entirely. When they see me they shout, “Ozzy!!! You haven’t interviewed me!” and I shout back, “But the red carpet’s been rolled up, darling. Next year, perhaps?”

Which Nigerian Fashion designers do you think will be the celebrity faves this year?

Speaking for the men, I’d guess Tayor Gabriel, EmmyKasbit and Mai Atafo.  Then there’s definitely going to be a Lanre Da Silva dress sashaying around effortlessly somewhere. I’d be happy to see a piece from House of Dabira this year because her piece worn by Dakore last year was youthful and bright.

Which Nigerian designer would you love to have dress you for the red carpet show and why?

Not giving that away just yet, you’ll have to see me on the carpet to know my final choice.

Can you tell us who you will be wearing? Any outfit changes?

My lips are sealed, but I will tell you this: I’m also an award presenter for the AMVCA main show so if my second outfit is confirmed I’ll be changing into something flammable.

How do you prepare for hosting on the red carpet? How is it    different if at all to attending as a guest?

Do your homework to familiarize yourself with the particular event. Pretty straightforward. You don’t want to ask a fashion designer when his latest album is going to drop. Research what attendees have worn before? Any trends? And then agree with yourself that you are going to have a lot of fun.

You are the first port of call for the attendees so as a red carpet host, you get the pulse of attendees first. You get to know where their head is. You also meet people you may not have met as an attendee because many people will want to talk to you.

On the flip side, you never catch the opening act of the event because you’ll still be working the carpet. But it’s cool. Watch the video later.
