Before I begin I would like to apologise for my absence last week, it was a crazy one! I was ill and it was my birthday week, so when I wasn’t lying in bed (as per my mother’s request, that I work too hard!) I was all over the place prepping for my birthday weekend! I had an awesome planner named Sikeola to sort out all my worries! She’s a star! So that said here is my health tip this week! Its Christmas in a few days! YAY! And I know we all want to indulge so here are few tips so you can without piling on too many calories.

  • When you wake up Christmas morning before you start anything; have a glass of water and lemon.

  • Instead of eating massive portions in one sitting, reduce the portion sizes and have small portions at every meal. I know a lot of us tend to hop from house to house eating different meals in each home, so cut down the sizes and try to spread the meals with 3 – 4 hour breaks in between. That way your metabolic system runs faster and you’re burning calories as you go along.
  • Pick healthier options at each meal – stick to the proteins like turkey, chicken, fish and good carbs like sweet potato, ofada rice and most importantly have at least 50% of vegetables with every meal you have on Christmas Day! Avoid those “salads” that are topped with creamy salad dressing, have plain salads with your meals.

  • If you have the option of stairs or elevator, TAKE THE STAIRS! Burn those calories!
  • For dessert have the fruit salad and if possible avoid cakes but if you must then have small sizes about the size of three fingers.

  • Watch your alcohol intake;  it’s very important because no matter how healthy your choices are, if you pile on the alcohol you will pile on the calories!
  • Final tip! At the end of the day, before you go to bed have a nice big cup of green tea (don’t cheat and add anything, leave it plain).

All that said have an amazing Christmas Day! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Enjoy your lovely time with you family, friends and loved ones!

Follow these simple tips for a healthier Christmas Day,

I promise you’ll love it!
