Self-Care: Because You Deserve Some Damn TLC

Nowadays, self-care is a phrase that's commonly used, and my guess is it's because adulthood seems to be taking its toll on many of us. There's just so much going on in the world, from inflation to price hikes. Take Nigerians, for example. If they're not trying to 'japa,' they are trying to acclimatize to a new habitat or country they've chosen to relocate to.

Self-care extends beyond indulging in scented bubble baths and beauty routines. It's about taking care of yourself in every possible way.

Self-care means different things to different people. For some, it's about taking a break from social media, while for others, it's about setting boundaries and speaking up about things that don't serve you or expressing how you'd like to be treated. Remember, you deserve to be taken care of too. So, take a deep breath, give yourself permission to rest, and let's make self-care a priority today and every day.

Here's a list of self-care tips that and I think it would be very helpful to you:

  1. Sleep is incredibly important as it allows your body to repair itself. Getting enough sleep is key.

2. Eat well because why should taking care of ourselves mean eating poorly?

3. Exercise regularly as exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently.

4. Get outside and enjoy some fresh air, especially if you've been stuck indoors.

5. Move your body, such as going for a walk, as it helps us feel better.

6. Practice gratitude to invite more positivity into our lives.

7. Treat yourself in whatever way that means to you. It's a time to relax and be taken care of, whether that's eating out or getting your nails done.
