Adekunle Gold is no stranger to the fashion world (he recently launched a jewellery piece) and his style evolution has been a pleasure to watch. We love when Nigerian artists hit the stage wearing Nigerian designs and exude our culture and he just might be one the best doing it at the moment.
He recently chose to wear a custom look from Nigerian label Móye onstage for his performance at the 50th anniversary NN North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Móye, led by designer and artist Ifedayo Nupo, known for their use of adire and aso oke to craft layered colourful pieces that incorporate patches and pattern mixing, created a vibrant red shirt and pants set for the Fuji star. They brought red adire patterns and aso oke stripes, with a few patches in green and yellow together for the custom look inspired by Gold’s current Big Fish era.
The Ejanla (big fish in Yoruba) pants, based on their popular baggy trousers style, took “inspiration from the ocean’s giants, whales, sharks….
The ropes were inspired by the gills of a fish, while the flowing panels take after the movement of a whale’s tail.” the label explains.
The cropped collared, drop shoulder shirt embellished with long red bead fringe is named Bàbá Déjà (which translates to father of Déjà), and the design is influenced by his relationship with his daughter, as “An expression of fatherhood, creativity, and identity, woven into a silhouette that feels as powerful on stage as it does in story. The tassels represent his ability to dance through all of who he is.”
He also performed without the shirt, wearing just a white tank with the pants, and the look still worked, leaning more "rock star".
It may be too early to call it, but this might be one of our top three looks from Adekunle Gold this year!
